The YouTube Channel with over 5 Million Subscribers… (Not Mine Sadly)

YouTube. THE go-to place for videos of babies biting siblings, disobedient dogs chasing deer and cats slipping off roofs. Not, according to my daughter, the place for me to talk about my book ‘Ivy Lane’.
‘I just don’t think it’s the right way to market your books,’ she says with a sympathetic smile. ‘The people who read your books are,’ she pauses to search for a complimentary word, fails and continues regardless, ‘old.’
She is fourteen and watches YouTube more than TV. Zoella, a Brighton based beauty with over five million subscribers and a bank balance (almost) to match, being one of her favourites.
I think she is wrong. I think we all like to watch the odd YouTube video, we adults just aren’t slaves to it like teenagers.
So here is the video I made this week for Hannah Ferguson’s new YouTube channel. Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who took part in our #AskCathyB Twitter campaign especially: Catriona Merryweather, Sophie Hedley, Sharon Goodwin, Sheerie Franks, Jennifer Joyce, Agi and Jo Hurst.

Cathy Bramley
By Cathy Bramley

Cathy is the author of the best-selling romantic comedies Ivy Lane, Appleby farm, Conditional Love, Wickham Hall and The Plumberry School of Comfort Food. She lives in a Nottinghamshire village with her family and Pearl, the Cockerpoo. Her recent career as a full-time writer of light-hearted romantic fiction has come as somewhat of a lovely surprise after spending eighteen years running her own marketing agency. However, she has always been an avid reader, hiding her book under the duvet and reading by torchlight. Luckily her husband has now bought her a Kindle with a light, so that’s the end of all that palaver.
