The Festival of Romance 2013
The Festival of Romance… *sigh* it has a lovely ring to it doesn’t it?
This is an annual event which takes place in Bedford, this year on 8th to the 10th November and is a celebration of romantic fiction. I’ll be attending for the first time this year and I’m really looking forward to it
I cannot claim that my writing is particularly romantic – I’m from the school of the ‘Get your coat you’ve pulled’ type of romance. You can trace my unromantic pedigree back to the night I met my husband, when I set about proving how strong I was by giving men firemen’s lifts in a nightclub. And yes, I did pick him up. I seem to remember his plea that if I put him down he would buy me a drink. That did the trick!
But going back to the Festival, the programme is chockablock with opportunities to meet publishers, hear the latest industry news and mingle with other romantic (and not so romantic!) authors such as Talli Roland, Joanne Phillips, Mandy Baggot and lots of others.
The Gala dinner looks amazing and although I can’t attend, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for some wonderful people who have been nominated in this year’s Romance Industry Awards:
Julie Cohen whose creative writing sessions I’ve had the pleasure of attending this year
Sharon Goodwin whose company has organised the Conditional Love book tour
JB Johnston and Kirsty Maclennan who are part of my book tour. I was so delighted that they have welcomed me onto their blogs and agreed to review my book even though I am a debut author.
Carol Wright who although she isn’t officially part of my book tour, has really supported me on Twitter and Facebook and I’m very grateful for her generous input.
Good luck to all of you and I can’t wait to hear the results!
