January Round-Up and A Delightful Competition!

Goodness me, it’s the end of January already! Not quite sure how that happened, but on the other hand it does seem an age since I opened up our French doors and javelined a wizened Christmas tree out into the garden!

So what have I been up to in 2015 so far?
As soon as Christmas was over and done with, my other half and I began talking about the gym we are planning to set up in the room above the garage where I used to run my marketing business, Apples & Pears Marketing. Progress to date? We are still just at the talking stage! But you never know, February could be the month!
When my daughters went back to school I dived straight back into my writing. I decided to give myself the two weeks off over Christmas as I knew we would be very busy and I’m the sort of person who gets anxious about not being able to write if I’d planned to. So I had a lovely break and enjoyed turning my attention back to Wickham Hall at the start of January.
The first draft is now done and I’m very pleased with it so far; now I just need to wait with everything crossed to find out what my agent, Hannah, and editor, Harriet think of it. All being well, it will be published in four parts in the second half of this year.
I’m not a great one for New Year’s resolutions, however, this year I have decided to make a concerted effort to get out from behind my desk and actually leave the house occasionally! So far my plan is working. On Sunday 8th February, I’m going to Miranda Dickinson’s writing event WriteFoxy and looking forward to seeing her and her co-hosts, Julie Cohen, Rowan Coleman and Kate Harrison.
At the end of the month I’m meeting up with Sue Watson author of best-selling Love, Lies and Lemon Cake. And in the middle of April, I’m heading off to Somerset to ‘Bookcamp’ – a writing retreat organised by Cesca Major. I’m so excited about this – Monday to Friday with no cooking, no chores, just time and space to write, write, write… And the best bit is that there will be some other wonderful writers there too: Rachael Lucas, Kat Black, Holly Martin, Helen Redfern and Emily Kerr as well as Cesca of course!
Can. Not. Wait.
February is set to be another ultra-busy month; part one of my new serial, Appleby Farm – Appleby Farm – A Blessing in Disguise launches on Thursday 5th and my first proper paperback, Ivy Lane, launches on Thursday 12th!
I am working on all things digital at the moment, from promoting the new releases to designing a new website and my publishers at Transworld have organised some exceptionally lovely competitions to help the books on their way. For the first, we have teamed up with the gorgeous online retailer, Dotcom GiftShop to win an Appleby Farm themed prize. Please do enter, you can do so by clicking below, and don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter which will head your way later in Spring full of exclusive news and competitions!
